Poehling named to USA roster for U18

Ryan Poehling and Cayden Primeau will join members of the United States National Team Development Program at the 2017 IIHF U18 World Championship in Poprad and Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia from April 13-23.

Poehling, 20th in Future Considerations’ Spring ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft, had seven goals and six assists in 35 games as a freshman at St. Cloud State in 2016-17.

Primeau, ranked 96th, had a 3.16 goals against average and .895 save percentage in 30 games with the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League. He also represented the United States at the World Junior A Challenge, where he recorded a 0.75 goals against average and .966 save percentage and was named to the tournament’s all-star team.

National team forwards Scott Reedy (39th), Grant Mismash (47th), Josh Norris (66th) and Evan Barratt (84th), and defensemen Max Gildon (44th), David Farrance (55th), Tommy Miller (65th) are also among those participating in the tournament.
