According to the St. Petersburg Times, Brett Connolly can start the search for more permanent accommodations.

“We feel Brett’s shown that he belongs in the NHL and makes our team better,” Yzerman wrote in a text message to the Times. “So, we’ve decided to keep him.”

Connolly, skating on a line with Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis, will be kept beyond the first 10 games of the season, kicking in the first year of his three year entry-level contract. Connolly’s 10th game will come Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres.

Connolly had 46 goals and 73 points in 56 games with the Prince George Cougars last season.
