Boston College goaltender Jake Oettinger was among 10 semifinalists named for the 2017 Mike Richter Award.

The award honors the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA men’s hockey.

Oettinger, a freshman, was a standout in leading all Hockey East goaltenders in goals-against average (2.07) and save percentage (.927). Nationally, Oettinger ranked eighth in both categories and finished with an 18-9-3 record.

The 18-year-old is 38th in Future Considerations’ Winter ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft.

Candidates for the Mike Richter Award were determined by nominations from all 60 NCAA Division I men’s hockey head coaches. The semifinalists, finalists and winner are selected by a committee of coaches, scouts and media members.
