The Minnesota Wild have selected Jonas Brodin with the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Perhaps a bit underexposed prior to the draft, Brodin is a blend of poise and quiet confidence on the ice in his two-way play. The defenseman from Farjestads has a very high panic threshold and isn’t shy to take a hit to make a play.

That is, if the opposition can catch the slick skating Brodin. He skates extremely well with great overall mobility and agility, which compliment his ability to see the ice and make the correct play.

Still, the 170-pound defenseman needs to build on his six-foot-one frame if he wants to succeed in North American hockey, and while he does possess the ability to read the correct play, Brodin isn’t expected to develop into a power play quarterback or a big offensive producer from the backend.
