From Aaron Vickers, Future Considerations:

Welcome to Halifax, Martin Frk.

Frk, who was drafted third overall in the 2010 CHL Import Draft, is set to join the Mooseheads at practice Wednesday after the club has negotiated his release from HC Karlovy Vary just weeks after the International Ice Hockey Federation rejected his initial transfer to Halifax.

The IIHF ruled the 17-year-old standout had a valid contract with HC Karlovy Vary, forcing the Mooseheads to negotiate a release with the Czech club. Frk was originally under contract with the club until the 2011-12 season. Halifax argued the contract should be invalid due to the fact it was inked under extreme duress.

Frk recorded 55 points and 184 penalty minutes in 38 games in the Czech Under-20 league last season. The five-foot-11, 180-pound forward is expected to be a first round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
