FC releases April ranking for 2012 NHL Draft

Aaron Vickers2013 Draft Center, Draft Rankings

It should come as no surprise that Nail Yakupov remains a top Future Considerations ranking for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in March.

The Sarnia Sting standout has consistently been ranked No. 1 throughout the season.

Teuvo Teravainen‘s rise, however, has been a little more shocking.

Slotted 41st in FC’s October ranking and 30th by the Midterm, Teravainen’s stock has continued to skyrocket with incredible play through March and into April – making the Finn one of the fastest rising prospects available in 2012’s draft and a candidate to go among the first 10 names this June in Pittsburgh.

Another player trending the right direction is Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Zemgus Girgensons. Considered a first rounder all season, the Latvian is moving closer to being selected in the opening half of the first round.

But perhaps the most surprising rise has come out of Sweden.

Hampus Lindholm makes his debut in the top-30 for the first time all season. The six-foot-two blueliner was ranked as high as 48 at FC’s Midterm. The Swedish defenseman will have ample opportunity to improve on his ranking as well when he represents his country at the World Under-18 Championship later this month.
