Stamkos possesses the best overall skill package in the entire draft. This kid can really skate and excels at playing a finesse game. He consistently plays a responsible defensive game and also has a physical element. He has one of the better shots outside the NHL and sees the ice very well along with possessing great hockey sense. He has an extra gear when he’s carrying the puck that allows him to skate around many defenders on the outside or skill moves that allow him to challenge defenders up the middle. He is the kind of player that makes those around him better. Stamkos is a very coachable player who has a real contagious desire to win. (May 2008)
