The hard working winger has played very well this past season. He skates well with nice balance, above average acceleration and speed also showing solid encompassing mobility. Despotovic has good size and strength which helps him battle along the boards. He possesses nice creativity, solid playmaking skills and outstanding vision. He drives the net and uses his quick shot to effectively create chances. Despotovic has a tendency to over handle the puck and cause turnovers that way. His defensive game is in need to attention as he is not counted upon to play a responsible two-way game. (May 2008)
