Lavoie among eligibles named to Team QMJHL

Raphael Lavoie will have the opportunity to challenge Russia as a member of Team QMJHL.

Lavoie, 13th in Future Considerations’ preliminary ranking for the 2019 NHL Draft, was one of 24 players named to Team QMJHL for the 2018 Canada Russia Series.

Team QMJHL will play opposite the Russian National Junior Team in Game 5 of the six-game cross Canada series in Sherbrooke on Nov. 13 and in Game 6 in Drummondville on Nov. 15. The series will begin with two games in the Western Hockey League and will continue with two games in the Ontario Hockey League before finishing up in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Lavoie, 18, has 12 points (nine goals, three assists) in nine games with the Halifax Mooseheads this season, and had 63 points (30 goals, 33 assists) in 66 games last season.

Forwards Nathan Légaré of Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Samuel Poulin of the Sherbrooke Phoenix and Jakob Pelletier of the Moncton Wildcats, also eligible for the 2019 draft, will join Lavoie on Team QMJHL.

Pelletier, ranked 14th, has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in eight games; Poulin, ranked 23rd, has nine points (six goals, three assists) in 10 games; Légaré has 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 11 games.
