Vallati is an offensive-minded puck-rushing defenseman…not overly flashy but smooth and effective…possesses a fluid, mobile stride and has impressive lateral agility and first step quickness…a strong skater…more mobile than fast, with the ability to transitioning seamlessly…handles the puck with skill and quick hands…protects the puck along the wall or from forechecking pressure…uses his feet and creativity to escape pressure and get himself out of trouble…moves the puck up ice quickly…makes quick passes to open teammates…has the intelligence and poise to adapt quickly to in-game situations…has a good seeing-eye shot from the point but could use it more often instead of deferring to pass…uses his strong stick exceptionally well to knock pucks loose…gives opposing forwards fits when attempting to enter the zone…not one to be overly physical but will use his body to separate the man from puck, block a shot or battle for loose pucks along the wall…reads and reacts to the play very well, and positions himself in the right spots to make a play…has some two-way upside at the NHL level.
