McCoshen earns CCM Defenseman nod

There’s no reason for Waterloo Black Hawks draft eligible blueliner Ian McCoshen to get defensive.

But the United States Hockey League is ready to reward him for doing just that.

McCoshen was named CCM Defenseman of the Week for the league after registering three points and a plus-eight rating in Waterloo’s three wins last week. The 17-year-old wasn’t on the ice for any of the five goals scored against the Black Hawks on the weekend and helped the team to 13 consecutive penalty kills. He also scored his first goal of the season Friday and added a pair of assists Sunday.

McCoshen has yet to be a minus player in all eight games he’s played this season.
