Kostin named to Russia’s WJAC team

Klim Kostin will hit the international stage yet again.

Kostin, sixth overall in Future Considerations’ Fall ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft, has been named to Russia’s entry for the 2016 World Junior A Challenge.

The World Junior A Challenge will run Dec. 11-17 in Bonnyville, AB.

Kostin had one goal and two points in five games at the Canada-Russia Series in November. He also scored four goals and recorded seven points in five games at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in August.

Alexei Lipanov, ranked 58th, was also named to the team. He has three goals and seven points in 17 games with Dynamo Balashikha in the VHL, and two assists in nine games with HK MVD Balashikha in the MHL.

Andrey Svechnikov, eligible for the 2018 NHL Draft, will join Kostin and Lipanov on the roster. He has 10 goals and 24 points in 17 games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL, and had five goals and eight points in four games representing Russia at the 2016 IIHF World Under-18 Championship in November. He also had four goals in five games at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial.
