Yamamoto nabs WHL honor

Kailer Yamamoto continues his torrid start to the 2016-17 season.

The Spokane Chiefs forward was named WHL Player of the week after recording three goals and seven points in four games.

Yamamoto had a goal and two assists in a 6-2 win against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Oct. 25, and was named first star after adding two goals in a 6-2 victory against the Saskatoon Blades on Oct. 26. He had one assist and was named second star in a 4-2 win against the Prince Albert Raiders on Oct. 28, and had an assist and third-star honors in a 3-2 overtime loss at the Swift Current Broncos on Oct. 29.

Yamamoto, 11th in Future Considerations preliminary ranking, has 10 goals and 23 points in 15 games this season.

He had 19 goals and 71 points in 57 games with the Chiefs in his second season in the WHL.
