NHL Entry Draft eligible forward Nail Yakupov will not require surgery to repair a knee injury suffered while representing Russia at the 2012 World Junior Championship.

It was originally feared Yakupov, who injured the knee in overtime of the gold medal game against Russia, would require surgery to repair the knee. After an MRI, it was determined Yakupov would only be out for three-to-four weeks.

Despite missing nearly a month of Ontario Hockey League action, the Sarnia Sting standout is still seventh in league scoring with 53 points in 26 games this season.

Yakupov had nine assists in seven games with the silver medal winning Russians.
