With their second selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, the Minnesota Wild have selected Saint John Sea Dogs forward Zack Phillips 28th overall.

The pick was acquired in a deal that sent Wild defenseman Brent Burns to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Devin Setoguchi.

Phillips, who had 38 goals and 95 points in 67 games, possesses obvious offensive talent, both in his ability to control the puck with his quick hands and hard, accurate shot. Phillips also isn’t shy to take the puck to the net or get into the gritty areas to create offense either.

Some have questioned Phillips true offensive upside though, playing on such a strong Saint John Sea Dogs club that boasts Jonathan Huberdeau. Others would like to see improved foot speed out of the six-foot-one, 175-pound forward.
