Goaltender Matthew Welsh was near-perfect, and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League noticed.

Welsh was named QMJHL First Star of the Week after allowing one goal and recording one shutout in two games for the Charlottetown Islanders.

The 17-year-old stopped all 25 shots to shut out the Rimouski Oceanic 3-0 and followed up the performance by making 35 saves in a 3-1 win against the Halifax Mooseheads.

In 36 games this season, Welsh is 24-12-0 with a 3.13 goals against average and .902 save percentage.
