FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALGARY, AB — Future Considerations Hockey today announced Jake Virtanen of the Calgary Hitmen as the Pacific4 Sports Management draft eligible Forward of the Month for January.

Virtanen, a product of Abbotsford, BC, recorded an incredible 13 goals and 20 points in just 14 games during January, a month that was interrupted by his participating in the BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Virtanen was the top performer for the on-ice testing portion of the event.

He also jumped from 21 to 14 in Future Considerations’ February ranking for the 2014 NHL Draft.

“Jake has been playing outstanding hockey for the Hitmen as of late,” Future Considerations’ head WHL scout Zenon Herasymiuk said. “Everything he touches seems to find the back of the net. He is starting work harder to get his chances and is bringing a little bit more creativity to the ice making him a handful for opposing teams.”

Virtanen, 17, now has 32 goals and 50 points in 52 games this season.

Also considered for the award was Nikolaj Ehlers of the Halifax Mooseheads. In 11 games, Ehlers recorded eight goals and 20 points and saw his position jump from 14 to 11 in Future Considerations’ February ranking for the 2014 NHL Draft.
