FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALGARY, AB – Future Considerations today announced Veini Vehvilainen of Team Finland as the World Under-18 edition of the Double Blue Sports draft eligible Goaltender of the Month for April.

Vehvilainen, who plays for JYP-Akatemia of Mestis, recorded a 1.65 goals against average and .949 save percentage in helping Team Finland to a silver medal performance at the World Under-18 Championship in Zug and Lucerne, Switzerland in April.

“Although he did not win top goaltender he should have as he kept his squad in games they had no business hanging around in, including a 60-save performance against the overwhelming favorite USA squad,” Future Considerations scouting director Dan Stewart said. “He made plenty of game and tournament saving saves during his time in the crease leading to his draft stock skyrocketing. Showed off his athleticism, excellent rebound control, ability to fight through traffic and puck tracking skills.”

With JYP-Akatemia this season, Vehvilainen recorded a 2.57 goals against average and .917 save percentage in 26 appearances.

For the first time, any goalie from peewee to pro will have their own video analytic system and performance library at their disposal in Double Blue Sports. It typically takes a player or goalie coach hours to compile, edit, arrange and analyze video and statistics from a single game. Double Blue Sports will reproduce the same results with advanced video and statistical analytics within seconds.
