USA announces roster for WJAC

USA Hockey has announced its roster for the 2013 World Junior A Championship, scheduled for November 4-10 in Nova Scotia.

The team, which is built from players currently in the USHL, features a plethora of draft eligible players on the roster as 17 of the 22 men could be selected next year at the 2014 NHL Draft in Philadelphia.

Among them is Nick Schmaltz, 19th in Future Considerations’ October ranking for the 2014 NHL Draft. The Green Bay Gamblers standout will be joined by teammates and fellow draft eligibles Matthew Weis and Jordan Gross. The team also boasts a pair of Dubuque Fighting Saints in Shane Eiserman (59th) and Seamus Malone (74th), plus Sioux City Muskateers standout Ryan Mantha (83rd) among a bevy of middle round potential.

Some other players that could surprise are Austin Poganski (47th) of the Tri-City Storm and Josh Jacobs (43rd) of the Indiana Ice.
