Andrei Svechnikov capped off an impressive first season in the OHL with a little bit of hardware.

Svechnikov, second in Future Considerations’ Final ranking for the 2018 NHL Draft, received the Sherwin-Williams Top Prospect Award for the Canadian Hockey League.

The 18-year-old forward from Barnaul, Russia, had 40 goals, 32 assists and 72 points in an injury-shortened 44-game rookie season with the Barrie Colts to become the first Ontario Hockey League player to receive the award since Connor McDavid of the Erie Otters in 2014-15.

Other finalists for the award included Filip Zadina, ranked third by Future Considerations, and Ty Smith, who is ranked eighth.
