On the same evening Team Canada received word they would be receiving the services of Brett Connolly for the World Junior Championship, they got another surprise.

Anaheim Ducks forward Devante Smith-Pelly, widely considered the surprise of the National Junior Team Development camp this summer, will also join Canada in its quest for gold in 2012.

Smith-Pelly has two goals and four points in 25 games for the Ducks this season.
