What a ride for Robin Lehner.

The Ottawa Senators prospect ended his season on a high, helping Binghamton to the Calder Cup title after missing the playoffs for five consecutive seasons.

Taking over the goaltending duties from starter Barry Brust after falling behind 3-1 in Binghamton’s opening series against the Manchester Monarchs, Lehner didn’t look back.

The Swedish netminder struggled at the NHL level this season, posting a 1-4 record with a 3.52 goals against average and an .888 save percentage. Those struggles didn’t carry over to the baby-Senators, who had a 10-8-0-2 record with a 2.70 goals against and a .912 save percentage.

But it was the playoffs that Lehner really shone.

After relieving Brust, the six-foot-four netminder posting a 14-4 record with a 2.10 goals against average and .939 save percentage, including three shutouts, en route to capturing the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as playoff MVP.

Not back for a goaltender in his first professional season in North America.

And the perfect end to his rollercoaster ride.
