Go west young man. At least, that’s what the St. Louis Blues may have planned for top prospect Jaden Schwartz.
As first reported by Andy Strickland, the St. Louis Blues have had conversations with the Tri City Americans of the WHL over the potential arrival of Schwartz for next season. The Americans own the rights to Schwartz after selecting him in the eighth round, 173rd overall in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.
Expected to turn pro after next season, the Blues’ 14th overall pick from 2010 would benefit from the more ‘professional-like’ schedule of Major Junior hockey.
According to Strickland, Schwartz will sit down with his adviser and weigh his options as it pertains to leaving school or continuing his hockey and education at Colorado College.
Schwartz amassed 17 goals and 47 points in 30 games this season. The native of Wilcox, SK. also represented Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championship but was limited to two games after fracturing his ankle.
