Rankings Rewind: FC’s 27th overalls

With the 27th overall selection in the National Hockey League Draft, Future Considerations selects…

Nic Petan.

Though he’s not eligible to be drafted for another 27 days, Petan has just as much — if not more — upside than those ranked 27th overall by Future Considerations in previous years.

As a 17-year-old, Petan finished with a share of the Canadian Hockey League scoring race with Portland Winterhawks teammate Brendan Leipsic. Petan, who had just 35 points a year ago as a WHL rookie, exploded for 46 goals and 120 points, leading all Major Junior draft eligibles.

The 5-foot-9, 160-pound forward added 28 points in 21 playoff games, helping the Winterhawks to a WHL title.
