This University of Michigan commit is an active, high-intensity forward. He goes hard on the forecheck, causes turnovers and creates chances around the net. He displays tremendous speed and acceleration, and uses his speed to take the puck wide and create chances from the outside as well as the inside. He doesn’t take long to mull over his decisions and while he isn’t overly creative, he does make the smart play and finds seams quickly. He has a hard, deceptive shot, and is more than willing to go to the dirty areas for the puck and for his chances. He can re off a very hard slapper and quick release wrister. He plays a very high-energy game, and he never quits despite what the score might be. He continuously works hard on the forecheck and drives into the corners to dig out pucks. He is solid defensively, positioning well and working by shutting down the opposing forwards around the slot or playing tight to the point, and being a threat to break out on an odd man rush with his impressive speed. He uses his stick well and is active in all situations. He rarely takes a shift off, doesn’t shy away from engaging physically, and isn’t shy to set up in front of the goal in an attempt to deflect pucks. Not going to be a big point producer but instead a hard working guy that NHL teams like to ll their bottom six with. (May 2015)
