The grandson of the legendary coach of the same name, Tikhonov has shown much improvement this season. He has great skating ability and is a tremendous stick handler. He has a great shot with good accuracy which he can get off mid-stride. He is a smart and creative player with good overall skills. Tikhonov’s defensive game, while he does try, is not effective as he does not play with any sort of physical element. He also is too individualistic in his efforts and needs to use his teammates better. (May 2008)
