A big, hard hitting, grind it out type forward. Plays with a good amount of grit and determination, works the wall and loves the physical play. Possesses solid defensive awareness and is strong on the faceoffs. Makes the right play in all three zones, whether chipping and chasing the puck into the opponents zone or coming back to support his defense down low. Likes to throw his body around and will even drop the mitts when provoked. Has good hustle and energy in his skating stride that despite owning a wide leg stride gets him to where he needs to be. He shoots the puck well and follows it up by driving to the net. Despite the modest stats this year Ewanyk has NHL scouts excited with the extra things that he could bring to a team. (May 2011)
