A big physical defensive defenseman who plays a tight defensive game. Has great mobility and moves with strong balance and agility. Seems to really love the physical aspect and making opponents pay a price for venturing into dirty areas around the net and in the corners. Lacks offensive upside or creativity. Makes a strong rst pass but will never be a big point guy at the NHL level. Shows smarts and strong defensive zone awareness. Uses his size well to nullify attackers whether it be with his reach and stick or by pressing them against the boards. (May 2010)
