The physical forward has displayed flashes of his immense potential throughout his young career. Cormier skates well with good overall mobility and has shown good acceleration. He is a smart playmaker with fine vision and passing skills that can also finish around the net. He plays well along the boards and will drive the net. His shot is only average in velocity but he gets it off quickly. Durability issues are the main area of concern. Cormier has struggled with injuries his entire major junior career. He will also need to improve his play in his own zone and following through on defensive responsibilities. (May 2008)
