Deschamps is a very good skating winger who plays a solid two-way game. He is blessed with nice speed and accelerates to top speed with his first two or three steps. He has soft hands and can handle the puck through traffic and heavy pressure. He shoots well with a quick release on his wrist shot. He uses his long reach and smarts to play an energetic defensive game in his own zone. (May 2008)
