Calvert is a fast skating solid competitor who works hard on the forecheck and is solid in his own zone. He has great offensive instincts and knows where to be on the ice. He has sharp skills including solid playmaking abilities, good vision and good shot that he gets off quickly. He is full of heart and will play physical even with limited effectiveness. Size is his obvious deficiency as Calvert gets out muscled at times and forced out of plays along the wall. He will want to add strength to his legs which should help his already quick acceleration. Offensive upside at the next level is also in question. (May 2008)
