Schenn takes pride in taking care of his end first and foremost. He has the ability to deliver some really devastating body checks that turn the tied or set the tone of games. He is a warrior along the boards and effectively clears the crease. He skates very well and has tremendous leg strength and balance. Schenn makes a good first pass and has a great shot from the point. He has good hockey sense with nice on ice awareness and uncanny ability to read the developing play. He works hard and possesses good leadership qualities and does so by example. Defensive positioning is solid and used his stick in lanes well. He has some underdeveloped offensive abilities as well. His game is at its best when keeping everything simple. (May 2008)
