The smart puck moving defenseman has been a riser all season on draft rankings. Schultz makes good decisions with and without the puck. Knows when to pinch and join the rush and when to play it safe. He skates well and is very mobile plus he works hard and makes solid passes. The Wisconsin recruit plays with passion, possesses good on-ice vision and has a great first step. Needs to improve his defensive positioning and ability to read plays defensively. Schultz is also reed thin and desperately needs to add twenty pounds of muscle. It will be interesting to see him play against a higher level of competition. (May 2008)
