A very tall butterfly-style goalie who takes away the entire bottom half of the net. His glove is very quick and flashy causing many a shooter frustration. He skates well and has tremendous balance along with outstandingly quick lateral mobility. He has nice athleticism and is technically sound displaying solid positioning and angles play. Markstrom is a focused prospect who plays well in high pressure situations. He needs to refine some parts of his game like rebound control and over committing to the shooter and going down into the butterfly too early but those are minor concerns that good coaching should take care of. (May 2008)
