McInnis takes home AAPG MVP honors

Luke McInnis (Youngstown Phantoms), who notched two points, including the game-winning goal, earned Player of the Game honors as Team Plante defeated Team Roenick, 6-4, in the 4th annual CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.

Other USHL players to score in the game included Willie Knierim (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Chad Krys (Team USA), Michael Campoli (Team USA), William Lockwood (Team USA), Joey Anderson (Team USA), Mitch Eliot (Muskegon Lumberjacks), JD Greenway (Team USA), Ryan Lindgren (Team USA), Kieffer Bellows (Team USA) and Trent Frederic (Team USA). Knierim had a game-high three assists, and tied Team USA graduate Matthew Tkachuk for a game-high three points. Madison Capitols goaltender Ryan Edquist stopped all five shots he faced to pick up the win in net.

USHL graduates Charlie McAvoy (Boston University), Luke Kunin (University of Wisconsin), Max Jones and Tkachuck all scored as well.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 14th season as the nation’s only Tier I junior hockey league in 2015-16. A record 37 players were chosen in the 2015 NHL Draft and more than 375 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
