Petan tops DENNY’S performances

It hasn’t been a bad start to Nicolas Petan’s draft season.

The Delta, BC product earned the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week honours after leading all scorers in collecting eight points in the league’s opening weekend.

The Portland Winterhawks forward earned first star nominations in two of the three games in the WHL’s opening week on the strength of four goals and four assists.

The 17-year-old is quickly making noise after recording 14 goals and 35 points as a rookie with the Winterhawks last season. He was originally chosen 16th overall by Portland in the 2010 WHL Draft.
