Hoping to medal for the first time since 2005, the Czech Republic will go with a veteran club that will feature just one first-time eligible player for the 2013 NHL Draft.

Only Jan Stencel, who has represented the Czechs internationally at every stage of his career, was named as one of 24 skaters named to the country’s initial roster for the 2013 World Junior Championship. The five-foot-nine, 172-pound forward has previously participated in the World Under-17 Challenge, the World Under-18 Championship as well as the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial.

The Opava native has eight assists and nine points in 18 games with Vitkovice’s U20 squad. In seven games in the men’s league, Stencel has one assist.
