Sean Monahan has been suspended 10 games, the Ontario Hockey League announced Friday.
The league reviewed an incident which took place between Monahan and the Plymouth Whalers on November 18th. The Ottawa 67s forward delivered a blow to the head of Whalers defenseman Colin MacDonald while on the forecheck. MacDonald had possession of the puck behind his own net when Monahan left his feet to make the high hit. There was no penalty called on the play.
The suspension is the longest of any draft eligible in the Canadian Hockey League this season.
Monahan is currently fourth in Future Considerations November ranking for the 2013 NHL Draft and is currently ninth in OHL scoring with 12 goals and 36 points this season.
