FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALGARY, AB — Future Considerations Hockey today announced Nicolas Meloche of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar as the Crash Conditioning draft eligible Defenseman of the month for November.

Meloche has acquitted himself well in his draft season and that continued in November, recording five goals and 10 points in 10 games to improve to second in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in scoring amongst defensemen. He had points in five games, including three multi-point efforts and two three-point games to pace his month.

“Meloche plays it cool and calm under pressure and makes very strong outlet passes to start the offensive play for the Drakkar,” Future Considerations scouting director Dan Stewart said. “He also possesses a strong point shot and handles the puck well. He reads the developing play well and uses his reach and active stick to disrupt opponents as they attack offensively.”

The 17-year-old sits 76th in Future Considerations’ November ranking for the 2015 NHL Draft and has eight goals and 25 points in 31 games this season.

Also considered for the award was Jeremy Roy.

The 17-year-old manufactured a goal and eight assists in nine games in the month, including an incredible four-point effort against Rouyn-Noranda on Nov. 8. Roy sits fourth overall in defensemen scoring in the QMJHL with 25 points, including 22 assists, in 26 games this season.
