McDavid heads Top Prospects Game roster

Connor McDavid, Future Considerations’ top-ranked prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft, will represent Team Orr at the 2015 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in St. Catherines, ON. on Jan. 22.

The Top Prospects Game features 40 of the top draft eligible prospects playing in the Canadian Hockey League. NHL Central scouting, with input from all 30 NHL teams, establishes the roster.

McDavid, who is expected to represent Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, has not played since sustaining a broken hand in a fight on Nov. 11. The Erie Otters forward currently sits fifth in Ontario Hockey League scoring with 51 points in 18 games.

He’s not the only top talent set to skate in the event.

Dylan Strome, McDavid’s Erie teammate, will represent Team Cherry. Strome, fifth in Future Considerations’ November ranking for the 2015 NHL Draft, sits second in OHL with 61 points in 32 games.

In all, 19 prospects currently ranked in the first round of Future Considerations’ November ranking are set to skate in the event including Lawson Crouse (7th), Travis Konecny (8th), Mitch Marner (9th), Mathew Barzal (10th), Daniel Sprong (14th), Nick Merkley (15th), Jeremy Roy (17th), Evgeni Svechnikov (19th), Ivan Provorov (20th), Jansen Harkins (21st), Nikita Korostelev (22nd), Brandon Carlo (24th), Adam Musil (26th), Matt Spencer (27th), Jakub Zboril (28th), Paul Bittner (29th) and Nicolas Roy (30th).
