Marner, 17, was dominant through November for the Knights in recording an impressive 18 goals and 32 points in just 12 games played. Further, Marner had points in each and every game for London in the month, including five consecutive games with at least three points. He also had back-to-back five point outings that saw the Thornhill, ON. native notch seven goals.
“This kid just has incredible vision, puck skills and is seemingly always in the right place at the right time for a scoring opportunity,” Future Considerations scouting director Dan Stewart said. “He uses his impressive agility and speed to stay elusive from opposing defenders. Always involved in creating plays, Marner has the ability to make those around him better.
“Marner has grown and gained strength this season and is not as easily pushed off the puck as he was even last year. This kid is a high end offensive force and is a riser on our draft board.”
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound center has 22 goals and 48 points in just 26 Ontario Hockey League games this season and is currently ninth in Future Considerations November ranking for the 2015 NHL Draft.
Also considered for the award was Jack Eichel of Boston University.
Eichel, second behind only Connor McDavid in Future Considerations’ draft ranking, recorded four goals and 13 points in nine games for Boston University in November. He had points in each of his team’s first six games and recorded points in seven of nine total games.
