Cale Makar is at it again.

Makar had an outstanding preliminary round at the RBC Cup and his performance has landed him in the history books when he earned both the MVP and the Top Defenseman awards for the second consecutive year. He became the first player in RBC Cup history to win both awards multiple times, and to add to his historic night Makar walked away with the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) MVP award.

“Anybody in this room could have easily got it; a lot of guys played just as well as I did and were just as big a help to their teams as I was, but at the end of the day, it’s a pretty big honour to receive it,” Makar said in a release. “I get put on the ice every day with successful players and guys that want to play hard every day, and compete. They push me to be better, and I push them to be better, I like to think. The competition part just helps make me better every day.”

Makar’s play has put his team into the RBC Cup semifinals. Through three preliminary games, he has two goals and added three assists for five points.

Makar and the Brooks Bandits look to advance to the RBC Cup final with their semi-final game against the Cobras de Terrebone May 20, 2017.
