Kostin to represent Team Russia

Forward Klim Kostin, eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft, will represent Team Russia at the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series.

Kostin, 6th in Future Considerations’ Fall ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft, has zero points and 27 minutes in penalties in eight games with Dynamo Moskva in the Kontinental Hockey League. Kostin, who had four goals and seven points in five games at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial in August, is also pointless in six games with Dynamo Balashikha in the VHL.

Forward Nikita Popugaev of the Moose Jaw Warriors, ranked 21st, and defenseman Artyom Minulin of the Swift Current Broncos will also participate in the Canada Russia Series. Popugaev has nine goals and 17 points in 13 games, and Minulin has 11 assists and 14 points in 14 games in the Western Hockey League this season.

Team Russia will compete against Team WHL in Game 1 of the Canada Russia Series on Nov. 7th in Prince George, BC before continuing on to Edmonton for Game 2 on Tuesday, Nov. 8th. They will face Team OHL in Game 3 of the series in North Bay on Nov. 10, with Game 4 in Hamilton on Nov. 14. Team Russia finishes the series with two games against Team QMJHL on Nov. 15 and Nov. 17.
