Keller, Tkachuk named to USA summer camp

Ten players inside the first round of Future Considerations’ final ranking for the 2016 NHL Draft were among the 42 players invited to the 2016 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp.

The camp will be held at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., from July 30-August. 7, and will feature exhibition games against Finland, Sweden and Canada.

Among those in first round consideration include Matthew Tkachuk (4th) of London and Clayton Keller of the NTDP (7th), the two highest-ranked American-born skaters for the draft after consensus first overall pick Auston Matthews.

Logan Brown of Windsor (12th), Charlie McAvoy of Boston University (14th), Kieffer Bellows of the NTDP (16th), Luke Kunin of the University of Wisconsin (19th), Max Jones of London (20th), Riley Tufte of Blaine High School (22nd), Alex DeBrincat of Erie (25th) and Tage Thompson of the University of Connecticut (30th) will join Tkachuk and Keller.

Forwards Joey Anderson (55th) and Trent Federic (81st), and defensemen Adam Fox (32nd), Ryan Lindgren (41st) and Chad Krys (61st) of the NTDP will also be in attendance.

Defenseman Sean Day of Mississauga (91st) was also invited to the camp.

Day was granted exceptional status into the Ontario Hockey League at 15 by Hockey Canada in 2013, joining Connor McDavid, Aaron Ekblad and John Tavares as the only members at the time.
