Jake Leschyshyn’s drive to the 2017 NHL Draft has ended early.

The 17-year-old will miss the remainder of the 2016-17 season because of a knee injury, the Regina Pats announced Monday.

He sustained the injury in a game against the Saskatoon Blades on Feb. 3.

“We are extremely disappointed for Jake” Pats head coach and general manager John Paddock said, according to the team’s website. “He was having a great season and has been a big part of our success so far this year.”

Leschyshyn, 60th in Future Considerations’ Winter ranking for the 2017 draft, had 17 goals and 40 points in 47 games.
