Heponiemi earns WHL rookie of the year nomination

It was a great rookie season for NHL Draft eligible Aleksi Heponiemi. The Western Hockey League agreed.

The Swift Current Broncos forward had an impressive season and has earned himself the WHL Eastern Conference Rookie of the Year nod and nomination for WHL Rookie of the Year. The 18-year-old center scored 28 goals and added 58 assists totalling 86 points for the Broncos this season. Heponiemi’s 86 points led the league in rookie scoring this season, and put him in 16th overall for the WHL scoring title.

Heponiemi is the 82nd ranked skater by Future Considerations for the 2017 NHL Draft.
