With the 26th overall selection acquired from the Washington Capitals in exchange for Troy Brouwer, the Chicago Blackhawks have picked Victoriaville’s Phillip Danault.

A player who leaves nothing left in the gas tank each time he plays, the centre has speed to burn and always has his feet moving. His high compete level compliments both his speed and playmaking ability, as evident in his 44 assists and 67 points in 64 games this season.

The 170-pounder does have room to fill out his six-foot frame, but that has yet to stop him from being effective in his own end. The recipient of the QMJHL’s Guy Carbonneau Trophy as the league’s top defensive forward, Danault has been able to have success at both ends of the ice.
