Hart nets Del Wilson Memorial Trophy

Carter Hart’s draft eligible season didn’t go unnoticed.

Hart, eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft, earned the Del Wilson Memorial Trophy as Western Hockey League goaltender of the year Wednesday.

The 17-year-old posted a 35-23-1-3 record with six shutouts in 63 games.

He also finished second among WHL goaltenders with a 2.14 goals against average and the sxith-best save percentage at .918. He also led the league with 35 wins, and helped Everett to second in the US Division.

Zach Sawchenko, also eligible in 2016, was named Hart’s runner-up.

Sawchenko went 28-16-6 with a 3.04 goals against average and .916 save percentage in 51 appearances with the Moose Jaw Warriors.
