Just two days before he’s scheduled to land in Calgary to compete for a roster spot on Team Canada’s entry for the 2012 World Junior Championship, Dougie Hamilton has signed with the Boston Bruins.

Hamilton, Boston’s first round pick (9th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, signed a three year, entry-level contract Thursday.

The Niagara IceDogs has won two consecutive Ontario Hockey League ‘Defenseman of the Month’ awards, and leads all blueliners in goals (11), assists (30) and points (41).

In 67 games last season, Hamilton had 12 goals and 58 points in 67 games.
