Foote, Patrick named to Team WHL

Defenseman Cal Foote and forward Nolan Patrick, eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft, will represent Team WHL at the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series.

Patrick, first overall in Future Considerations’ preliminary ranking for the 2017 draft, has four goals and nine points in six games for the Brandon Wheat Kings this season. The 18-year-old had 41 goals and 102 points in 72 regular season games for the Brandon Wheat Kings last season, and 13 goals and 30 points in 21 playoff games en route to winning a WHL championship. Patrick was named the most valuable player of the WHL Playoffs.

Foote, ranked 10th, has eight assists in 11 games with the Kelowna Rockets. He had eight goals and 36 points in 71 regular season games, and nine points in 18 playoff games with the Rockets last season. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound blueliner is the son of longtime NHL defenseman Adam Foote.

Team WHL will face Team Russia in Game 1 of the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series on Nov. 7th in Prince George, BC., before continuing on to Edmonton for Game 2 on Tuesday, Nov. 8th.

The Ontario Hockey League will host Games 3 and 4, while the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will host Games 5 and 6.
